Our scope is Android and iOS, working with technologies such as Kotlin, Compose, Swift and SwiftUI. But through our wider teams, we also get exposure to platforms like Android Automotive or even VR. It’s a chance to see beyond your own platform, learn from others, and understand how everything connects across the product. It’s not about doing everything — but about seeing how it all fits together.
The work goes far beyond coding. Every new feature starts with understanding what we are trying to achieve — not just technically, but from a product and business perspective. We spend time analysing options, discussing with architects and other platform teams, and aligning across Android, iOS and QA. It’s a collaborative process where communication matters as much as code.
Our teams are larger than you might expect — including QA — because of the number of features we support and the level of quality we aim for. Test automation is part of how we work, and quality is shared across the team. Developers write tests, QA defines strategy, and we work together to make sure things work as they should, even at scale.
Working at this scale also means timing becomes critical. Big events don’t move. Sometimes we go from analysis to delivery much faster than planned, and we need to adapt, make decisions with limited information, and still deliver on time. It requires experience, calm thinking, and trust within the team. At the same time, it creates space to explore and introduce new tools that make the work more manageable and, over time, make our lives easier.
We also use AI across workflows to help us move faster and understand systems across platforms.
